Nashville Country Music Marathon
The 9th annual Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon will hit the streets of Nashville on April 26, 2008. Featuring Nashville’s hottest live bands on 28 stages along the 26.2 and 13.1-mile courses, the musically themed road race is expected to draw 35,000 runners. The ultimate tour of Music City, the Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon will wind runners past historic sites like the Parthenon, Nashville''s Music Row and an expansive finish line festival outside LP Field – home of the Tennessee Titans - along the Cumberland River in Downtown Nashville. Kentucky Bluegrass Festivals
The birthplace of bluegrass music, Kentucky boasts a rich and diverse musical heritage. So, Governor Fletcher proclaimed the week of June 21 – 28 as “Bluegrass Music Week in Kentucky,” and a series of events will honor “Bluegrass in the Bluegrass.” To celebrate the sounds and stories of bluegrass music, Kentucky offers several bluegrass festivals throughout the Bluegrass State. The week of bluegrass festivities kicks off with River of Music Party held the last weekend in June at the International Bluegrass Music Museum and Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro. ROMP is a spectacular bluegrass festival filled with bluegrass music, legends, exhibits, and films that illustrate Kentucky’s indigenous music. Other bluegrass events include: the 7th annual Bluegrass Festival, Rudy Fest, at the Carter County Fair Grounds in Grayson, June 21 – 23; the Annual J.D. Crowe Bluegrass Festival; and summer bluegrass concerts on the Belle of Louisville during the afternoon cruises. [

Kentucky Derby Festival

The Kentucky Derby Festival is a celebration of the annual Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville. One of the most exciting events in the world, the Kentucky Derby Festival celebrates the internationally famous “Run for the Roses” and Kentucky’s thoroughbred horseracing legacy.
